For optimal artwork capture and directional lighting accuracy, artworks should be presented flat or professionally stretched where possible. This helps ensure the scanning system captures the artwork evenly without detecting ripples, surface inconsistencies or distortions within the medium.
For best results:
Canvas works should be stretched
Works on paper should be presented flat
Artwork surfaces should be clean and free from dust or loose particles
-
For optimal scanning results, artworks framed behind glass will generally need to be removed from their frames to prevent glare, reflections and surface interference during the digitisation process.
Float-framed canvases may still be suitable for scanning provided the artwork sits flush and evenly within the frame on all sides.
Gallery 8 can assist with basic framing removal and reassembly services depending on the framing method and artwork construction. Please contact us prior to delivery if you require assistance preparing your artwork for scanning.
-
The scanner can capture fine detail, colour, texture and surface qualities across a range of materials. It is suited to artwork, paper, canvas, textiles, mixed media, reflective surfaces and other specialty originals.
-
Yes - Gallery 8 can professionally reproduce artworks featuring metallic, gold and silver elements.
Large areas of reflective gold or metallic foil can sometimes present additional challenges, as these surfaces naturally change appearance depending on lighting and viewing angles. In some cases, darker reflections may be captured during scanning. However, most metallic details and painted finishes reproduce exceptionally well through our fine art digitisation workflow.
-
