Gallery 8 Art Competition – Terms & Conditions

1. Promoter

The promoter of this competition is Gallery 8 (“Gallery 8”, “we”, “us”).

2. Eligibility

  • The competition is open to Australian residents.

  • Employees of Gallery 8 and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.

  • By entering, entrants confirm they meet all eligibility requirements.

3. Entry Details

  • Entry is open from [start date] and closes at [closing date & time AEST].

  • Each artist may submit a maximum of [2] artworks.

  • An entry fee of $[amount] per artwork applies and is non-refundable.

  • Entries must be submitted via [submission method / link].

Artwork Requirements

  • All artworks must be original works created by the entrant.

  • Artworks must not infringe any copyright, moral rights, or intellectual property rights.

  • Accepted mediums include - original paintings, mixed mediums.

  • Maximum artwork size: [dimensions].

  • Finalist artworks must be delivered ready to hang (D-rings and wire).

    5. Selection of Finalists

    • A shortlist of finalists will be selected by Gallery 8 and/or an appointed selection panel.

    • Finalists will be notified via email by [date].

    • Selected works will be exhibited at Gallery 8 for the duration of the competition exhibition.

  • 6. Judging & Prizes

    • Winners will be determined by an independent judging panel based on artistic merit, originality, technique, and overall impact.

    • The judges’ decision is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.

    • Total prize pool: $3,000 AUD, allocated as follows:

      • First Prize: $[amount]

      • Second Prize: $[amount]

      • Third Prize: $[amount]

    • Prize money will be paid within [X] days of announcement via bank transfer.

  • 7. Exhibition & Sales

    • Finalist artworks may be offered for sale during the exhibition.

    • Gallery 8 will apply a gallery commission of [40]% on all sales.

    • Prize money is separate from artwork sales.

    • Unsold works must be collected by the artist within [X] days after exhibition close.

  • 8. Insurance & Risk

    • Gallery 8 will take reasonable care of exhibited artworks; however, artists are responsible for insuring their own works.

    • Gallery 8 is not liable for loss or damage beyond its control.

  • 9. Image Use & Promotion

    • By entering, artists grant Gallery 8 a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce images of their artwork for promotional and marketing purposes, including website, social media, press, and advertising.

    • Artists will always be credited where reasonably possible.

  • 10. Withdrawal

    • Artists may withdraw prior to finalist selection by written notice.

    • Entry fees are non-refundable.

    • If a finalist withdraws after selection, Gallery 8 reserves the right to replace the artwork.

  • 11. Disqualification

    Gallery 8 reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:

    • Contains false information

    • Breaches these Terms & Conditions

    • Is offensive, defamatory, or unlawful

    • Infringes intellectual property rights

  • 12. Privacy

    • Personal information collected will be used solely for administering the competition.

    • Information will not be shared with third parties except where required by law.

  • 3. Amendments

    Gallery 8 reserves the right to amend, suspend, or cancel the competition if circumstances arise beyond its control.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
