  • The Artisan Series is Gallery 8's range of premium artist canvases, professionally prepared and stretched in-house.

    Our range includes traditional 12 oz triple-primed blank canvas and our new Artisan Textured Series, designed to give artists a distinctive, ready-to-paint surface before the first brushstroke.

  • We currently offer three canvas surface options:

    Smooth – Standard Blank Canvas

    Our classic 12 oz triple-primed canvas, providing a clean, ready-to-paint surface suitable for a wide range of artistic techniques.

    Medium Texture – Artisan Textured Series

    A hand-prepared surface with moderate texture, creating subtle depth and character without overpowering your painting.

    Stipple Texture – Artisan Textured Series

    A more pronounced stippled surface, adding visible texture and dimension to your artwork from the very beginning.

    3. What is the difference between Smooth, Medium and Stipple canvas?

    The main difference is the texture and character of the painting surface.

    • Smooth: A traditional primed canvas with a consistent surface.

    • Medium: A moderately textured finish that adds depth and movement.

    • Stipple: A distinctive textured finish with more noticeable surface variation.

  • Yes. Our standard blank canvas is supplied triple-primed and ready for painting.

    The Artisan Textured Series is supplied with its prepared textured surface, ready for your creative process.

  • Absolutely.

    Gallery 8 manufactures artist canvases in-house and can accommodate a wide range of custom dimensions.

    Whether you require a small canvas or a large statement piece, simply provide your preferred width and height in centimetres.

    Custom dimensions are subject to available materials, stretcher construction and production requirements.

  • Yes. Our Artisan Series canvases are professionally stretched over timber stretcher frames at Gallery 8.

    We prepare each canvas with attention to construction, canvas tension and the quality of the finished painting surface.

  • Yes. Gallery 8 also build custom timber float frames in-house.

    If you're planning to frame your completed artwork, we can discuss the most suitable frame dimensions and finish.

    Our available float frame colours include:

    • Natural Oak

    • Black

    • White

    • Walnut

    • Our float frames are designed to create a refined gap between the artwork and the surrounding frame, giving the finished painting a contemporary gallery presentation

  • This depends on how you intend to display or sell the finished artwork.

    Unframed Canvas

    A clean, contemporary presentation that allows the painted surface to be the main focus.

    Canvas with Float Frame

    Adds a refined, professional finish, making the artwork suitable for exhibitions, galleries, collectors and interior installations.

    Many artists prefer to paint on an unframed canvas before adding their final frame.

  • Absolutely.

    Once your artwork is finished and completely dry, you can bring it back to Gallery 8 for custom framing.

    Our team can help you select from oak, black, white or walnut float frame finishes to complement your painting.

    We also offer professional artwork scanning and fine art reproduction services if you would like to create prints of your completed work.

  • Yes.

    Our Artisan Textured Series is designed for artists who want a prepared surface with additional depth and visual character.

    Choose between Medium Texture and Stipple Texture, and provide your preferred canvas dimensions.

    As these surfaces are prepared in-house, slight variations in texture are part of their handmade character.

  • Our triple-primed blank canvas is intended for professional painting applications, including suitable acrylic and oil painting techniques.

    For textured canvases, we recommend confirming your intended paint medium with our team before ordering so we can advise on surface compatibility.

  • Yes.

    The Artisan Series is designed for emerging and established artists, art studios, galleries and creative professionals looking for professionally made artist canvases.

    We welcome enquiries for multiple canvases, custom sizes and ongoing production requirements.

  • Production time depends on the canvas size, surface preparation, quantity and current workshop schedule.

    Textured canvases may require additional preparation and drying time.

    We'll confirm the expected production timeframe when reviewing your order.

  • Yes. Free collection is available from our Southport studio once your canvas is ready.

  • Yes. Gallery 8 can arrange packaging and Australia-wide delivery for suitable Artisan canvas orders.

    Shipping costs depend on the completed canvas dimensions, weight, packaging requirements and destination.

    Larger canvases may require specialist packaging or freight arrangements.
