Tarik Dallinger-Dimizio - Im not my dad

This painting captures the internal struggle of differentiating oneself from a parent’s destructive choices and confronting the fearof becoming like them. It conveys a deep-seated anger, rage, and resentment towards my father, juxtaposed with the underlying sadness of a son who yearned for his father to embody the potential he always believed was within him. The artwork reflects my attempt to rise above my father's failures, embracing the positive qualities I have inherited while rejecting the negative ones. Through this expression, I hope my father might see the reflection of his better self that I carry within me - and that it may inspire him to find his way back to the light.
