At Gallery 8, join us for a Life Drawing session in a unique Art Gallery setting - open to beginners and experienced artists

Doors open from 5.15pm for 6.00pm start.

  • Professional Life model

  • Pencils, charcoal sticks, erasers and sharpeners

  • Newsprint / butchers paper rolls for warm-up sketches

  2. This is a self-directed practice session , there’s no formal instruction, but a supportive environment encourages you to create at your own pace.



    Parking at Gallery 8 during events:

    LImited parking at Gallery 8 (8 Ferry Road, Southport) but there is street parking or additional parking at the Athol Paterson Car Park which is only a 5-minute walk from Gallery 8.



    No Photography During Sessions

    Please respect our models — no photography or video recording is permitted during live drawing.
    You’re welcome to photograph your artwork and the studio between sessions only.

    Thank you for maintaining a respectful and creative atmosphere.

Q & A

Do I need experience to attend Life Drawing at Gallery 8?

Not at all, our Freestyle Life Drawing sessions are open to beginners and experienced artists alike. This is a self directed class, no formal instruction. It’s a welcoming, judgment-free space where you can relax, learn and enjoy art with the local creative community.

When are the Life Drawing sessions held?

Life Drawing at Gallery 8 Southport runs regularly, check our Events page or Google Business listings for upcoming dates. Some sessions coincide with art exhibitions, pop-up shows, or happy-hour drinks in the café. Additional Art supplies are available to purchase at the Gallery if you like.

Do I need my own art supplies for Life Drawing session?

Gallery 8 provides charcoal, paper pencils and choice of Floor Easels, table Easels or Boards. Your welcome to bring your own mediums.

Is there food and drink available?

Yes our Gallery 8 Barista Bar serves specialty coffee, wine, and light snacks. Come early and join us for Happy Hour Drinks before the session and enjoy the relaxed art-bar vibe

Can I bring my own Drinks?

NO BYO - Gallery 8 is a licensed Venue, we have a full bar available before or during the session.

Can under 18’s Attend?

No, This event is strictly (18+) due to the nature of the drawing with nude or partially nude models.

Yes we offer private Life Drawing events, perfect for team-building, birthdays, or creative nights out. Contact Gallery 8 Southport to arrange a custom session with optional drinks and catering packages

Event Parking

There is limited street parking outside the gallery, with additional parking at the Athol Patterson Car Park, just a 5-minute walk away.

This is the closest large parking area for visitors attending our Pop-Up Exhibitions, Live Music Nights, Life Drawing Sessions and Private Events.

Do you serve food and drinks?

Yes — Gallery 8 is fully licensed, serving specialty coffee, wine, beer, and cocktails from our Barista Bar.
