What to Expect When You Scan Your Artwork at Gallery 8

Gallery 8 now offers professional fine art scanning and print preparation for artists, galleries and collectors on the Gold Coast.

Using our large-format SMA VERSASCAN 4870 scanner and Epson SureColor P20070 printer, we can help artists turn original artworks into high-quality digital files, limited edition prints, archival records and professional reproduction files.

Why Scan Your Artwork?

Scanning your artwork creates a high-quality digital master file of the original piece. This is useful for artists who want to preserve their work, create prints, sell online, build a professional archive or submit images for exhibitions, grants and catalogues.

Unlike a standard photo, professional artwork scanning captures colour, detail, texture and scale with greater consistency. It is especially useful for works on paper, canvas, posters, mixed media and large-format originals.

What to Expect

When you bring your artwork to Gallery 8, we first assess the piece, including its size, surface, medium and final use.

We look at whether the artwork is flat, stretched, framed, textured or delicate. This helps us choose the best scanning and file preparation method.

Your artwork is then scanned using our large-format flatbed scanner. The file can be prepared as an archival master, a print-ready file or a web-ready version, depending on what you need.

If required, we can also assist with colour grading, cropping, cleanup and print preparation.

Scanned and Digitised by Artists, for Artists

Your artwork is handled by technicians who are artists themselves. That means we understand the importance of colour accuracy, texture, surface detail and the integrity of the original work.

Our goal is not just to create a digital copy. It is to help preserve the feel and intention of the artwork so it can be reproduced professionally.

Benefits of Fine Art Scanning

Professional scanning can help you:

  • Create limited edition prints

  • Archive original artworks

  • Prepare files for online sales

  • Build an artist portfolio

  • Submit work for grants, galleries and competitions

  • Reproduce sold originals

  • Create print-ready files for canvas or fine art paper

  • Protect the original artwork by reducing handling over time

Fine Art Printing at Gallery 8

Once your artwork has been scanned and prepared, Gallery 8 can also produce professional fine art prints using our Epson SureColor P20070 printer.

We print on quality fine art papers and canvas, including premium media. This allows artists to move from original artwork to scanned file to finished print in one professional workflow.

Before You Bring Your Artwork In

For the best result, artwork should be as flat and clean as possible. If the work is framed behind glass, it may need to be removed before scanning to avoid glare and reflection.
